Massage Treatments

This is your first step to your path of wellness!  I have been a massage therapist for over 21 years and therefore have quite a few modalities to choose from, or to simply mix and match in a combination treatment!  Whether you need rehabilitation massage, had an MVA, sports injury, pre or post natal massage or simply want to decompress for an hour - I can help you with all your treatment goals. It is very important to be comfortable with your therapist so please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Descriptions below are just an idea of what you can get accomplished in that time frame but is not limited to what is listed.  I am fully registered and licensed for all insurance claims including Veteran affairs and can direct bill to insurance companies that allow as such.

Deep Tissue

Not for the novice, not a full body. This is a very intense, specific procedure directed to a problem area. This will release deep, tight muscle tissues, spasms and contractions eliminating the trigger points which cause referred pain.

Rehabilitation & Sports

Rehabilitative and sports massage is generally used for individuals with injured muscles or soft tissue damage. These damages may be incurred from overuse or trauma. A variety of techniques may be used to reduced scar tissue or adhesions which may be reducing an individual's range of motion or impeding proper posture and ultimately one's comfort. Rehabilitative massage is suggested to be at more regular intervals to ensure the benefits remain long lasting

This is a deeper treatment designed for chronic conditions. This restores flexibility to the muscles as well as rebuilds and strengthens tissues. This also releases toxins and unwinds the muscle fibers

relieving chronic muscle pain. This is also used for occupational related injuries and motor vehicle accidents.

Individualized to your unique need. This is designed to increase endorphins, circulation, skin and muscle tone. This also relieves stress, promotes relaxation, mobility and flexibility. This helps your body, mind and spirit heal itself!

Ease the many discomforts that pregnancy can bring on! We have a specialized table just for the "mommies to be" that allows you to lie face down even in the third trimester! (Yes! It is safe!) Or we can massage while you lay on you side, the choice is yours! *Please get a note from your M.D prior to booking your appointment stating massage therapy is allowed.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic drainage is a gentle, rhythmic massage following the direction of lymph flow. It is said to beneficially effect the nervous, immune and muscular systems. Its primary purpose is for the treatment of lymphodema (excessive swelling) but is also used to aid in detoxifying the body. Requires a one hour session.

Myofacial Cupping

Myofascial Cupping is a modified version of the ancient Eastern style cupping which differs by specifically targeting the Musculo-Skeletal system rather than the meridian systems used by traditional Chinese practitioners. It also uses plastic cups and vacuum suction rather than glass cups and a naked flame to create suction. A hand operated vacuum pump is used to induce a vacuum inside a cylinder sealed to the skin by the use of oil or cream. The vacuum “draws” the soft tissue perpendicular to the skin thus providing a tensile force to the soft tissue system, which can be left in one site for a prolonged period or moved along the tissue. Your therapist will palpate the skin during or at the beginning of your treatment to determine which areas may benefit from cupping. Cream, gel or Oil is then applied to the skin, before placing the cups on the body. One, two or several cups can be placed on dependent on the size of the area being worked on. These will typically be left on for up to 10 minutes depending on the client’s reaction and sensitivity. The cup can also be moved around by the therapist with the rim of the cup creating a compression pressure as well. There are varying sizes of cups used for different areas.

Cupping should be pain free however in areas of dysfunction you may experience some bruising in the area, which should disappear within several days.

Myofacial Release

Myofacial release is a type of soft tissue therapy used in osteopathy to release physically restricted musculoskeletal groups. It is believed that chronic tension and trauma cause the fascia, which envelop muscle, to become fixed in a particular position, known as a myofascial restriction.

Myofascial release is a manipulative treatment that attempts to release tension in the fascia due to trauma, posture, or inflammation. Connective tissues called fascia surround the muscles, bones, nerves, and organs of the body. Points of restriction in the fascia can place a great deal of pressure on nerves and muscles causing chronic pain.

Practitioners of myofascial release employ long stretching strokes meant to balance tissue and muscle mechanics and improve joint range of motion in order to relieve pain.

Thai Massage

A concise description of traditional Thai massage (Nuad Thai / Nuad Boran) Traditional Thai massage is an ancient healing system that combines broad and targeted acupressure, stimulation and manipulation of energy lines called sen, and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage can be both relaxing and energizing, so it is a good choice if you want to be active after your massage. The therapist uses a variety of different sequences of techniques on clients, who are either lying face up, lying face down, seated, or on their side.

 MVA (motor vehicle accident)

If you have been in a recent motor vehicle accident (MVA) you may not experience the symptoms of injury immediately. After you have consulted with emergency care professionals and decide a massage may help you with symptoms it is important to find a therapist who understands the implications of seeking treatment. During your first session I do a complete assessment before we start our treatment. This is to ensure that I am providing you with the best treatment plan that will assist you with a speedy recovery.

Massage can address the stress that goes with a traumatic event like a car accident, and it can help address many of the sprains, strains, and other injuries common in a MVA.  Direct billing is available so you don't have to worry about any more than you have to!
